Hi,
Nice walleye on flyrod. Could you recommend some flies for walleye? I have have recently startet to flyfish for predators like Pike and Walleye and I fell like it’s not My territory. I have fished for trout, greyling and arctic char here in Sweden for 5 years but I would like to give fkyfishing an other dimension. So what do you say, have any patterns to recommend? I tie my own flies!
Walleyes, Pike, bass, and many other species are strongly oriented toward minnows, leeches, tadpoles, and other large food organisms. There are many imitations that work. I like to add a bit of flash in the patterns to give them some sparkle like the flash of a natural minnow. In addition, one has to focus on larger flies because many times the fish we are after are quite large. Big tube flies, articulated flies, huge bucktails and streamers all work.
